G Suite Tools for Authentic Learning

Teaching and learning is shifting.  What started as a model used to train students for uniform factory work is being transformed by a world infused by technology.  Innovation gives instant access to information, making the more traditional model of school less and less relevant.  And as educators, we must shift, too.  In this session, we’ll explore different ways we can use Google’s G Suite to transition away from assessing rote skills and towards more authentic learning that incorporates real-world skills like collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking.  We’ll also look at some examples of projects that ask students to go beyond the obvious, and brainstorm possibilities to use authentic projects to transform students’ communities.
